Gin Lane has unveiled a new pop-up event that’s set to captivate fans of fantasy and mixology alike. If visiting some of your old favourites like Cruise Bar, which is back now(!) aren’t for you anymore, then nestled in its charming 19th-century townhouse, the bar has transformed into a mythical haven inspired by some of BookTok’s most beloved reads. Running until late December. The Tales & Tonics pop-up invites guests to step into a world where cocktails meet the magic of storytelling.

The experience begins with a visit to the Seer’s Table, where a tarot reading sets the tone for your journey. Guided by the Seer, you’ll discover which mythical realm aligns with your energy, unlocking a curated selection of cocktails designed to transport you into the pages of your favourite fantasy novels. It’s an imaginative twist that blends the mystical with the indulgent, creating a unique prelude to the evening.

The cocktail menu itself is a work of art with views that rival Sydney’s newest Panorama Bar! with each drink inspired by iconic literary worlds. Fans of A Court of Thorns and Roses will be drawn to creations like ‘The Cauldron’, a mesmerising mix of rose petal-infused tequila, activated charcoal, and a bubbling citrus shot, or ‘Spring Court in Bloom’, a shimmering gin-based elixir dusted with edible fairy dust.

For those who prefer the smoky allure of Middle-earth, ‘Gandalf’s Pipe’ offers a rich blend of smoked coffee, cacao nib cognac, and salted caramel espresso, served with a wand for a touch of theatrical flair. Meanwhile, Harry Potter enthusiasts can sip on ‘Slughorn’s Hourglass’, a vibrant concoction of raspberry and violet-infused gin, prosecco, and white chocolate.

Each cocktail has been meticulously crafted by Grant Collins, Gin Lane’s founder and a pioneer in turning mixology into an immersive art form. His vision for Tales & Tonics is to bring the escapism of fantasy novels to life, using the bar’s historic setting as the perfect backdrop for this magical experience. The attention to detail in both flavour and presentation ensures that every drink feels like a portal to another world.

For those looking to deepen their experience, Gin Lane also offers gin masterclasses and cocktail-making sessions, where groups can explore botanical flavours and even craft their own personalised gin blends. It’s an ideal way to complement the Tales & Tonics journey, adding an educational twist to the enchantment.

The pop-up runs daily, with cocktails priced at $24 and available during select hours. The Seer’s Table, offering tarot readings, is open every Friday from 24 October, adding an extra layer of mystique to the event. Whether you’re a BookTok devotee or simply in search of a unique night out, Gin Lane’s latest offering promises an evening of whimsy, wonder, and world-class cocktails.
