Known affectionately as “The Crowie,” the Crows Nest Hotel has been a cherished staple for locals of Sydney’s North Shore, and now it’s better than ever.
After a stunning $1.6 million renovation, this iconic watering hole has revealed its fresh new look, blending modern upgrades with its long-standing legacy of live entertainment, good food, and great times.
A Modern Makeover with Timeless Appeal
The Crowie’s transformation started late last year, and now the major project is complete and ready for guests to enjoy. The upgrades have brought an array of exciting new features designed to cater for every kind of visit, from a casual weekday meal to a vibrant night out with friends.
One of the standout additions is the hotel’s first-ever dedicated dining room. Located on the ground floor, this stylish new space offers an ideal setting for a relaxed mid-week meal or a celebratory group dinner. Alongside this, the former ‘One Willoughby’ events space has been reimagined into a public bar, now a prime spot for catching up over drinks or enjoying a curated dining menu while watching live sporting matches on big screens.
The well-loved Lounge Bar has been renamed the Main Bar and serves as the heart of the hotel’s live entertainment. Featuring a large stage and screen, it’s the go-to place for live bands, DJs, and beloved weekly events like trivia and drag bingo. Fans of The Crowie’s rooftop will also notice a sleek upgrade, creating a vibrant alfresco area complete with a DJ booth, dining space, and stunning views. Whether you’re visiting for brunch or dancing into the early hours, The Crowie has it all.
Elevated Pub Fare with Mediterranean Flair
The renovations haven’t just elevated the hotel’s look; they’ve also transformed the menu. Head Chef Nathaniel (Nico) Madrangca and his talented team, including Sous Chefs Claudette Cabaron and Pablo Martinez, have crafted a menu that combines classic pub favourites with Mediterranean-inspired dishes. With a focus on premium, locally sourced ingredients, this new menu is perfect for fresh, flavourful dining.
Highlights include lamb souvlaki plates served with pita and garnishes, a tender whole roasted lamb shoulder with lemon roast potatoes, and hearty pub classics like burgers, chicken parmigiana, and smoky chicken wings. For steak lovers, The Crowie continues its reputation for quality cuts, offering options like the 250g Black Angus Rump or the 400g Riverina Op Rib, paired with lemon roasted potatoes and a choice of sauce.
Sharing is encouraged with dishes such as dips, olives, and the unforgettable lamb shoulder, making the dining room a hotspot for group gatherings. The new menu is available across the dining room, Main Bar, and rooftop seating, while the public bar serves a condensed yet equally enticing version.
Drinks & Entertainment That Shine
The Crows Nest Hotel is not just about food; its vibrant drinks menu will keep your glass full and your spirits high. Fresh twists on beloved cocktails include creations like the burnt pineapple and jalapeño margarita, mandarin mojito, and a refreshing limoncello long island iced tea. Wine enthusiasts can explore a mix of trusted favourites and exciting additions like pet nats and chilled reds, ensuring something for every palate.
True to its roots, The Crowie remains a hub for live entertainment. Friday nights now feature live bands from 9pm to midnight, followed by DJs until 3am. The rooftop, with its panoramic views, hosts DJs every Friday (5pm to midnight) and Saturday (from 7pm) spinning funk, disco, R&B, and house tracks. Crowie After Dark Saturdays promise late-night fun, with Main Bar DJs keeping the beats going from 11pm until close.
If that’s not enough, visitors can still enjoy weekly favourites, including Tuesday schnitzel specials, 50-cent wings on Thursdays, and the well-loved ‘Thursday is the New Friday’ drink offers.
