Koonara Wines family vintner has introduced Emily May Rose

Rose wine

Channelling Spain, this year’s new batch of rose wine by the family operated Koonara Wines has got a an intense pink hue and big Turkish delight. Think raspberry and strawberry flesh notes, which like all Koonara’s Wines, the Emily May Rose is low in sulphur, low in residual sugar and vegan friendly. The rose is an homage to the founder’s gran, Emiline May Reschke, who lived on the family property until she was 99. She was an accomplished dressmaker and designer, teacher, bridge and scrabble guru and professional floral artist, and forever immortalised in this beautiful wine. Pleasantly, the batch is one of a great push of vineyards taking steps towards not using pesticides or herbicides. “We have not used any pesticides or herbicides in our Coonawarra vineyards for over a decade, as it can rob the soil of nearly all the good micro-fungi,” says Dru, a self-confessed eco-obsessed Vigneron and co-owner of the family owned winery. 15 May is World Whiskey Day: say hello to a wine and whiskey combination

Lark whiskey

They’ve combined port, sherry, bourbon, white oak and wine casks from Lark’s Bothwell Distillery with juicy flavours of vibrant berries from the finishing casks. The result is a new, single malt whiskey by Lark Distillery in Tasmania that is worthy of excitement. A limited edition, the new batch of Ruby Pinot Cask Finish has a tantalisingly light and fruit-filled composition with notes of orange blossom and honeysuckle, embodying the characteristics of a crisp Tasmanian spring morning. With mouth-watering inflections of mandarin, maple and meadow honey, this is a compellingly crisp single malt whisky reminiscent of a springtime sunrise in the Tasmanian highlands. Not to mention, its colour and classic Lark bottling make it ideal for the ‘Gram. See more about it at the Lark site.
