Man sunglasses eyewear sunnies

Heritage eyewear brand MOSCOT recently hosted their first Australian edition of MOSCOT Music at a private rooftop in Bondi Beach. The event featured Palassi Kailis and Tom Derickx, popularly known as The Kayex, who delighted guests with their unique blend of electronic and live instrumentation. MOSCOT Music was first introduced in 2004 by Harvey Moscot, the fourth generation of MOSCOT’s founding family, when he picked up his guitar and started playing at the Orchard Street shop in New York on a rainy Saturday. The event was an instant hit, and ever since then, MOSCOT has been blending music and eyewear to connect fans worldwide. MOSCOT’s Australia Brand Manager, Julien Fritz, explained the connection between music and eyewear, saying that both offer a window to the soul and a unique experience for every individual. The Kayex, who won the Triple J Unearthed new music competition in 2018, are known for their distinctive style that resonates with today’s pop music culture. After a career in professional football, frontman Tom Derickx found music to be his anchor to re-center himself and speak from the heart again. The MOSCOT Music event was attended by several notable personalities, including French creative director Aurélie Pinar, DJ Clay Western, fashion stylist Thomas Townsend, Kult model Mana Mackay, and make-up artist Sean Brady. Against the backdrop of the majestic Sydney harbour, guests enjoyed the cult-electro sounds of The Kayex while sipping Grifter Brewing Co’s signature pale ale. To make things easier for you, we’ve put together 5 shopping hacks that will help you find more bang for your buck! First of all, think about how you want to shop this year. If you can’t make it there in person, use this time to shop online instead. This year is expected to be a little different in terms of how retailers meet their customers. The days of rushing in store to get the best deal are coming to an end, as most stores are offering the same prices and products online. If you shop online, you can also start as soon as the clock strikes midnight and avoid the traffic. Second, don’t be afraid to ask for an extra discount. Many stores will offer a certain percentage off of your total purchase if you’re polite and have the time to wait in line again. If they are unwilling to give you that deal right then, simply check back later when it’s closer to closing time or ask for a rain check.  Also try finding some coupons and deals before you go to the store! Topdogs get the goods – The new designer dog boutique for your bestie

Dog food bowl

Dogs are like people. They’re happy sad, love cuddles and food and going for walks. Oh, and if you ask Australian entrepreneur Alex Dreise, they like nice things, too. She has opened the Topdog Boutique to serve just that purpose, pumping out quality dog bits for the pup who has a style all their own. My two favourite things in this world are dogs and design, but I ran into issues trying to purchase products for my dog Romeo from exotic locations. I’d been dreaming about launching a site for discerning owners who are aesthetically and sustainably minded, and in March I finally took the leap,” said Alex. It’s an online destination for the dog lover and owner who wants something nicer than the run-of-the-mill. Alex chooses things to stock that are as practical as they are aesthetically stunning, so creating a collection of some of the nicest canine products from Australia, Europe, the United States and Africa. From bespoke blankets and beds to hand- made bowls and bowties, Dreise has scoured the globe for the best of the best. “I always try and get a sample of the product and test it with Romeo (her own dog). It is not just about aesthetics, usability and enjoyment is paramount, and nothing makes it to the site unless it gets his two (non-opposable) thumbs up!” she said. From San Fran to Brooklyn, German to Australia, the products on hand are tested, quality produced and stocked for your enjoyment. See the ful range and get your own… Read More

Shopping up a storm? Let The Urge do the work for you

Online shopping laptop credit card

Know what’s nice? It’s that centuries ago, shopping for nice things you want used to be reserved for the privileged and aristocrats. Then they died out, capitalism set in, retail became faster and our desires became stronger, giving us more and more of a reason than ever to basically never stop shopping. And no one’s mad about it. Online retail isn’t a new thing, but it’s how it’s done that’s forever changing and keeping the whole world of spending money without having to move that much more enticing. Just today, for example, I spent $400 on a new pair of sunnies. Didn’t need to, but did. And when there are businesses out there like The Urge that make it that much more possible to do from basically – and literally – ALL over the internet, there’s no reason not to. They’re an Australian retail platform that takes a term like, ‘Rayban’, or ‘Miansai’ and throws it open to the worldwide web, serving you results from every retailer who’s got anything that might tick the boxes of what you’re after. Why? Simple, really. Shoppers on the hunt for a specific fashion item often spend hours bouncing from site to site, scrolling miles with their thumb, trying to find where they can buy it. They’ll have hundreds of tabs open, go back and forth between sites to compare prices, come across sold out stock, and often end up on a store that doesn’t even ship to their country.  The Urge makes it easy. And quick. And simple…. Read More

Stepping back in time to 1960, Fjällräven founder Åke Nordin was only 14-years-old when he customised his backpack to go hiking, as he was not satisfied with the one he had.
