Directed by Simon Phillips, Australia’s master of musical theatre, the show features audacious costumes and sets by Gabriela Tylesova and captivating choreography by Simone Sault. The outdoor staging elevates the musical’s most legendary moments—the mirror, the journey to the Phantom’s lair, and the dramatic chandelier drop—all performed on an enormous stage built over Sydney Harbour.
The production first premiered on the harbour in 2022, becoming the highest-grossing show in the event’s history. Its 2026 return is proving even more popular, with soaring advance sales leading to an extra week being added to the season due to overwhelming demand.
