Bronte’s culinary scene is set to get a refreshing splash of European flair with the opening of Table Manners on Macpherson Street this Wednesday.

This neighbourhood restaurant and bar marks the first solo venture of renowned hospitality figure Alex Cameron, who brings with him a passion for European dining and a vision for a relaxed yet refined local haunt. At the helm of the kitchen is head chef Luke Churchill, whose impressive pedigree includes stints at Parlar and Oncore by Clare Smyth, promising an exciting menu that’s bound to delight.

Alex Cameron, a Bronte local himself, couldn’t be more thrilled about unveiling Table Manners. “I am excited to be opening the doors to Table Manners; it has been such a labour of love. Welcoming guests and offering something new to my local community has been the driving force behind those late nights. Bringing my love of European dining to Bronte is the icing on the cake. We hope everyone loves what we put on the table,” he shared.

The seafood-leaning menu at Table Manners takes its cue from the diverse cuisines of Europe, crafted for a laid-back yet exquisite dining experience. Diners can anticipate dishes like tuna belly toast; Hervey Bay scallops with nduja butter and macadamia; Moreton Bay bug club sandwich; Murray Cod with pickled carrots and sauce Jacqueline; crispy spaghetti ‘all’Assassina with chilli, tomato, and king prawns; and lemon polenta madeleines.

Cameron’s collaboration with Churchill has been a dream in the making. “To work alongside Luke has always been on the agenda; we previously worked together and his talent caught my eye back then. Watching the menu development and creation transition to the plate has been such a great experience. The menu offers many dining options, for all occasions. Pop into the bar for snacks and cocktails or settle into a booth for hours, we won’t ask you to leave,” Cameron muses.

The beverage program is equally enticing, curated by Cameron to highlight both classic and emerging wine producers. The 400-bottle wine list is complemented by 30 wines available by the glass, and Table Manners extends a warm welcome to BYO guests during lunch service at a nominal corkage fee. Signature cocktails such as the Dry Negroni, Sgroppino, and the Indian Summer offer refreshing twists to traditional favorites.

Designed by the esteemed Blainey North, Table Manners is a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. The venue is divided into two unique spaces: a light-filled dining room boasting a hand-painted mural by Sydney artist Bec Fernon, and a cosy bar area adorned with striking artwork by Byron Bay artist Toni Clarke. The dining room seats 75, with banquette-style seating separated by draped green linen, while the bar space features deep greens, caramel hues, and an Ongouma green marble bar.

For those seeking to enjoy the Bronte sunshine, outdoor seating will make its debut in spring, with retractable windows extending the inviting atmosphere beyond the venue’s façade. Table Manners will open its doors for lunch from Friday to Sunday starting at noon, and for drinks and dinner Wednesday to Sunday from 5 pm, welcoming patrons to indulge in a European culinary journey right in the heart of Bronte.
