What to know about the new Westward Whiskey

Westward Whiskey 1

With SO many new brands of the same old alcohols out there, it can be easy to simply walk past them on the shelf, overlook it in a bar or just simply put it down to “just another whiskey“.

But Westward doesn’t feel like it fits into that category. But why?

Sure, it’s another one, but they have a vision: to make a distinctive American whiskey inspired by the American Northwest and make it accessible to all Australians.

When Westward started, there were only three dozen craft distilleries in the U.S. Today, helmed by Thomas Mooney, who joined the team as Founder & CEO in 2011 to pursue a lifelong dream of becoming a whiskey entrepreneur, Westward is a proud leader among more than 2,200 producers and bring their product to discerning Australian drinkers.

From humble beginnings to its impressive footprint today, creating a bold, robust, and delicious whiskey has remained the team’s true passion. For more than two decades, we’ve proudly served as a leading voice for American Single Malt.

Their process is where Westward comes to life, with a four-pillar approach to how they go about their product.

Westward is all about brewing with an American Ale from scratch, distillation which they do twice, maturation they carry out in a new, lightly charred American Oak barrel and mingling with small batches to get the flavour that works for them.
