They say that the kitchen is the heart of a home and in the world of ‘The Block’, one of the most watched episodes is the kitchen reveals. Along with the other room reveals, kitchen reveals showcases the best and latest trends in technology and design. This year, The Block is located in Melbourne’s iconic Gatwick Hotel building in St Kilda. With so much history and personality in the building and its surrounds, the pressure on this year’s contestants to create incredible apartments s has been higher than ever. What these apartments have in common is generous light and large space, more so in the penthouse apartments so this year, The Block kitchens exude luxury, entertainment and high end technology. What sets these kitchens apart is the technology installed in the kitchens this year. Bosch appliances were used throughout The Block in the ovens and in stove tops but the winning kitchen used appliances from Gaggenau, the Rolex of kitchen appliances, having multiple ovens, a wine fridge and sub-zero fridge in their kitchen and butler’s pantry. A huge trend throughout the kitchens were Caesarstone’s marble kitchen island bench’s. With many variations of stone used, a popular finish was a concrete finish, giving the marble a concrete without using concrete as the base.
