National Theatre Live is back with Bryan Cranston and more

Theatre lovers across the UK and beyond have a new date to circle in their calendars. National Theatre Live has announced that the critically acclaimed production of Arthur Miller’s All My Sons will join its 2026 cinema slate this spring.

Releasing to cinemas from 16 April 2026, this new staging of the American classic promises to be a cinematic highlight of the year. Captured live from its run at the Wyndham’s Theatre in London’s West End, the production brings together a powerhouse cast and visionary direction to breathe new life into Miller’s searing drama.

A Star-Studded Cast

Leading the company are two actors of immense stature. Bryan Cranston, celebrated globally for his role in Breaking Bad, returns to the London stage to deliver a performance that the Financial Times has already hailed as “stupendously well-acted”.

Opposite him is Marianne Jean-Baptiste, known for her powerful work in Hard Truths. Together, they anchor a production described by The i as “immensely powerful and gripping”.

They are joined by an exceptional supporting cast that highlights the depth of talent on the British stage:

  • Paapa Essiedu (I May Destroy You)
  • Tom Glynn-Carney (House of the Dragon)
  • Hayley Squires (The Night Manager)

This ensemble has helped the production earn five-star reviews, with The Standard calling it an “astonishing piece of theatre”.

Visionary Direction and Creative Team

At the helm is the visionary director Ivo Van Hove. Renowned for his ability to strip classic texts down to their raw emotional core—as seen in his celebrated production of A View from the Bridge—Van Hove brings his signature intensity to Miller’s tragedy.

The production features a world-class creative team:

  • Scenic and Lighting Design: Jan Versweyveld (A View from the Bridge)
  • Costume Design: An D’Huys
  • Sound Design: Tom Gibbons
  • Casting: Julia Horan CDG
  • Dramaturg: Ola Animashawun

The American Dream on Trial

All My Sons remains one of the most potent examinations of the American Dream ever written. It centres on the Keller family, who appear to be the embodiment of post-war success. But beneath the surface of backyard barbecues and neighbourly chat, dark secrets fester.

When wartime manufacturing delivers huge profits for Joe Keller, it comes at a terrible moral price. His partner is charged with criminal negligence, and his eldest son goes missing in action. As the play unfolds, the fragile peace of the Keller household is shattered. Will peacetime bring peace of mind, or will Joe be forced to confront the devastating consequences of his actions?

Joining a Stellar 2026 Season

All My Sons is a major addition to an already impressive year for National Theatre Live. It joins three previously announced titles that are bringing the best of British theatre to cinema screens around the world.

From Shakespearean tragedy to modern political drama, the 2026 slate offers a diverse range of theatrical experiences. Audiences can find their nearest screening at NTLive.com, with tickets for all titles on sale now.
