The London premiere of Blood Wedding, Barney Norris’ adaptation of Lorca’s fiery Spanish classic, will ignite Clapham’s Omnibus Theatre from Wednesday, 30 April to Saturday, 24 May.
Presented by Two’s Company and Karl Sydow in association with Tilly Films, this darkly comedic take on love and heartbreak brings the intensity of Lorca’s original into contemporary England.
Set in a tense village on the Salisbury Plain, the play follows Georgie, a 22-year-old bride-to-be torn between her fiancé Rob and her ex, Lee. What starts as a celebration of young love turns ominous as passion, betrayal, and divided loyalties unravel in this modern exploration of dreams, fears, and the question of whether we are brave enough to follow our hearts.
Directed by Tricia Thorns, Two’s Company’s award-winning artistic director known for rediscovering classic works (A Day by the Sea, London Wall), Blood Wedding boasts a top-tier creative team with Alex Marker (set design), Carla Joy Evans (costumes), Neill Brinkworth (lighting), and Dominic Bilkey (sound).
The cast includes stellar talents such as Alix Dunmore (The 39 Steps, West End), David Fielder (Small Island, National Theatre), Esme Lonsdale, Kiefer Moriarty, newcomer Christopher Neenan, and Nell Williams, known for her role in Game of Thrones.
Multi-award-winning playwright Barney Norris (Visitors, Nightfall) seamlessly weaves Lorca’s timeless themes of unbridled love and tragedy with the universal dreams and dilemmas of today’s youth.
Don’t miss this gripping production that asks whether we’re bold enough to choose “one pure thing.” Tickets are expected to sell fast, so secure yours now for this unforgettable theatrical event!
