A new brewery coming to Manly in Sydney: Felons Brewing Co.

FELONS LANDSCAPE 3

Felons Brewing Co., a standout name in Australia’s craft beer scene, is set to make waves in Sydney with its expansion to the iconic Manly Wharf Bar from Friday, 18 October.

This move comes as part of the Artemus Group’s vision to transform Manly Wharf into a lively hub of community and cultural experiences, following their ownership in April 2024.

As the centerpiece of this revitalised waterfront destination, Felons Brewing Co. promises to bring its award-winning brews and cheerful community spirit to Sydney’s Northern Beaches. “We’re thrilled to unveil Felons’ new home at Manly Wharf,” said Adam Flaskas, co-founder and director of Artemus Group, expressing their commitment to creating a dynamic, community-focused locale that elevates the hospitality scene.

Paul Henry, co-founder and director of Artemus Group, shared his excitement, noting the special connection Manly holds for him and the honour of bringing Felons to such a beloved location. The brewery, founded by Flaskas, Henry, CEO Luke Fraser, brand director Dean Romeo, and brewery director Tom Champion, is renowned for its straightforward brewing philosophy. “We focus on fresh, local ingredients to produce balanced beers that enhance sociability and memorable experiences,” explained Champion.

Felons Manly will feature a selection of their celebrated beers, including the Crisp Lager, Galaxy Haze, and Australian Pale Ale, alongside barrel-aged, seasonal, and limited-edition brews. Beyond the beer, the drinks menu will offer refreshing cocktails, Champagne, a curated selection of Australian and international wines, spirits, and non-alcoholic options, all thoughtfully chosen to complement the stunning harbourside setting.

The culinary offerings at Felons Manly come courtesy of acclaimed chef Corey Costelloe, formerly of Rockpool Bar and Grill. Costelloe’s menu highlights simple, high-quality cooking with an emphasis on local produce. Signature dishes include the 600g CopperTree Farms 45-day, dry-aged ribeye, Clarence River baby octopus with lemon, chilli, and oregano, and whole butterflied whiting from Coffs Harbour. The 36-hour fermented pizza dough, featuring a splash of Felons Australian Pale Ale, is topped with fresh, local ingredients, further showcasing Felons’ dedication to quality.

Complementing the culinary delights, Felons will launch an exciting music program with live jazz, soul, and funk performances, as well as DJ sets featuring disco, 80s boogie, and Afrocentric grooves. The brewery will also introduce its Lifestyle Club, fostering community connections through a weekly run club, beer yoga sessions, local charity events, sustainability workshops, and collaborations with Manly’s vibrant arts scene.

“Manly is a perfect fit for Felons,” said Dean Romeo, brand director. “The Northern Beaches lifestyle is among the best in the world, and we’re excited to share that with our community. Our aim is to create an inclusive space where people can relax, enjoy each other’s company, and celebrate the magic of beer.”

Felons Brewing Co.’s new venture at Manly Wharf is poised to become a beloved destination for locals and visitors alike, offering a unique blend of craft beer excellence, exceptional dining, and a strong sense of community.
