New year, new look: Converse is doing something to its classics

Converse JW Anderson 3

The faithful Converse high top Chuck Taylors are getting a face lift – and it’s great.

The new range is repping an evolution of Converse on the streets and now, they’re playing with fresh “twists” in its latest seasonal Chuck Taylor All Star-inspired footwear.

Think of it as a commentary on contemporary mash-up culture, while in practice, it’s an articulation of an ongoing exploration of proportion, stance, comfort, and expression.

This concept was exemplified through the ongoing creative collaboration with JW Anderson, which saw the introduction of the Run Star Hike take over the runways and the streets. With the Run Star Hike, the classic canvas upper of the iconic Chuck Taylor meets an unapologetic, big and bold EVA midsole, to define a new intention. With its unique build as well as features like the exaggerated rubber traction tread and distinct Star placement, the silhouette delivers enhanced comfort and stance, while bringing high visibility to any look.

These will be available from February 2020.

Coming later, there’s the Converse CPX70 that play with a canvas upper and a new rubber cupsole.

Footwear prices on the CPX70, Chuck 70, Chuck Taylor All Star, Chuck Taylor All Star Lift and Run Star Hike range from $100 to $140.  Converse “Twisted” Classics will be available in Converse stores, at Converse.com.au and selected Converse stockists starting early January.
