Vegan cakes are a great option for everybody with an allergy to dairy or eggs. But, having an allergy is not the only reason why many choose to switch to vegan cakes.

On this page, we delve into what you need to know about baking vegan cakes. To guide you in the right direction, we also check out some recipes.

What Is A Vegan Cake?

A vegan cake is a cake without any animal products. This means no dairy, butter or eggs are added to the cake.

Does this affect the taste of the cake? Providing you choose the right recipe, there is no reason why your vegan cake should not taste as nice as a non-vegan cake.

Why Choose Vegan Cakes?

The main reason many choose to eat and bake vegan cakes is because of allergies. But, there are other reasons as well.

Perhaps you are a vegan and decided you don’t want to eat anything based on animal products. If you still want to enjoy a sweet treat, the best option is a vegan cake.

Are Vegan Cakes Healthier?

Most vegan cakes still contain sugar. If you are concerned about your sugar intake, you can try replacing sugar with other ingredients including apple sauce or bananas. If you want to order a deliciously creamy that you won’t believe it’s vegan, I would recommend Brunetti as they offers a wide range of traditional and customize cakes that are easy to order only, Same day deliver is also available.

Are Vegan Cakes Organic?

Unless you bake your cake using organic ingredients, it is not organic.

When you want a cake made from organic ingredients, you need to buy organic base ingredients. That is when you can call your cake organic.

What Do I Use Instead of Milk, Butter and Eggs?

Instead of dairy milk use nut milk, oat milk or even soy. Just be aware that soy makes a cake slightly “heavy.” The best alternative to dairy milk when it comes to any kind of baking is almond milk.

Instead of butter, you add margarine or plant oils to vegan cakes.

Flaxseed and bananas replace the eggs in vegan cakes

Magic Ingredients In Vegan Cakes?

Do I need to buy any special ingredients for my vegan cakes? Most vegan cakes benefit from the addition of vanilla.

Just like with regular cakes, buying quality ingredients does make a difference.

What Are Popular Vegan Cake Flavours?

Dairy-free chocolate is a popular flavour. Vanilla works really well in vegan cakes. Almond extract is second to none.

You can also try adding berries and any other natural flavour you can find. Go foraging to create a truly unique cake.

What About Frostings?

You are not going to be short on ideas for frostings when it comes to vegan cakes.

When you use vegan baking techniques, you can still use icing sugar, lemon and many other ingredients. Caramelised nuts are delicious.

Not only can you caramelise nuts, but you can caramelise many other things as well including fruit and fruit peel.

How To Caramelise

Don’t shy away from using caramelise your favourite flavours.

Make it simple and start by caramelising nuts. Add 150g of chopped nuts to a pan, 50g of granulated sugar and a tablespoon of oil. Heat the mixture until it turns brown and into a sticky sauce.
