Taste Port Douglas food festival is on

Australia’s much-loved food festival, Taste Port Douglas, presented by the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, is set to gain significant international attention with the announcement of Singapore Airlines (SIA) as its first airline partner.

This exciting development comes alongside new funding from the Australian and Queensland Governments, aimed at aiding the recovery efforts in Far North Queensland following the impact of ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper. “We’re delighted to be shining a light on Far North Queensland and the incredible food and drink experiences it has to offer,” shares Spencer Patrick, Co-Founder and Culinary Director of Taste Port Douglas. “Increased government funding and our first international brand partnership are massive milestones that enable us to bring fans our best festival yet.”

Both the Australian and Queensland Governments are supporting Taste Port Douglas through the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA), a part of the broader $29.15 million Tourism Recovery and Resilience Program. This initiative aims to attract more visitors to Queensland’s Tropical North while supporting local events in Cairns and Port Douglas. Special Envoy for the Great Barrier Reef, Senator Nita Green, applauds the festival for promoting Australia on a global scale, highlighting the importance of bringing tourists back to iconic locations like the Great Barrier Reef.

Set for its eighth edition, the 2024 festival promises to be exceptional. The fan-favourite ‘Chef Takeover Dinners’ has been revamped into the ‘Taste Port Douglas Takeover Series’ featuring Michelin star chef Michael Wilson from Singapore. An exciting lineup of events scheduled across scenic venues will showcase top Australian culinary talent, culminating in a vibrant festival experience from 7-10 August. Notably, two competitions will provide an opportunity for residents from Australia and Singapore to win an ultimate foodie weekend at Taste Port Douglas and in Singapore, further solidifying the festival’s appeal across borders.

With expectations of over 10,000 guests attending from across Australia and the Asia Pacific, this festival is not just a culinary celebration; it’s a testament to the resilience and spirit of Far North Queensland.
