Sure, Sydney Harbour is nice and all, but have you seen Le Méridien Beach Plaza Hotel in Monte Carlo? It kind of takes the cake when it comes to the yacht game, which is why in the recent iteration of the event, three superyachts stood out above the competition at the 5th Monaco Yacht Show Superyachts Award Ceremony, the inaugural gala event of the world’s most prestigious superyacht show. Just check out the winners… SOLO, winner of the 2018 MYS/RINA Award The award honours the superyacht whose construction complies with the environmental standards established by the Italian classification company RINA. Winner: SOLO (71.9-m motoryacht, delivered in 2018 by Tankoa Yachts). ILLUSION PLUS, winner of the 2018 MYS Interior Design Award This award recognises the beauty, comfort and functionality of the exceptional interior. Winner: ILLUSION (88.5m motoryacht, delivered in 2018 by Tankoa Yachts). DAR, winner of the 2018 MYS Exterior Design Award DAR, winner of the 2018 MYS Finest New Superyacht Award (pic above) The jaw-dropping megayacht DAR, built by the Dutch shipyard Oceanco, won two awards yesterday evening. The MYS Exterior Design Award and climax of the ceremony, the MYS Finest New Superyacht Award which pays tribute to the beauty and luxury of a new superyacht at the MYS, her exterior and interior design and functionalities as well as her highly technical and state-of-the-art performance. This exhibition promises an unprecedented reunion of paintings by some of the most celebrated Italian artists of the 14th century, artworks that have been scattered across the globe for centuries. Highlighting this unique collection are masterpieces in gold ground, many originally part of larger compositions, offering visitors an opportunity to experience the innovative spirit of Western painting tradition from this era. The spotlight of the exhibition is the coming together of several panels from the revolutionary double-sided altarpiece, the Maestà, painted by Duccio di Buoninsegna for the cathedral in Siena. Recognized as the first double-sided altarpiece in Western art, this narrative shift in art will be showcased along with other significant pieces from the ensemble.
