In collaboration with Opera Australia, Perth Festival, and Brisbane Festival, this opera is the creation of renowned composer Jonathan Mills and acclaimed librettist Meredith Oakes, inspired by Murray Bail’s Miles Franklin-winning novel.
Performing at the majestic Palais Theatre in St Kilda from October 16 to 19, Eucalyptus: The Opera invites viewers into a magical eucalyptus forest, where love, longing, and a touch of fairy tale magic weave a compelling narrative. The opera follows Ellen, a young woman living under the protective watch of her father, Holland, in a world reminiscent of a modern-day Rapunzel.
