Get ready, Brisbane! Two groundbreaking interactive cocktail experiences are about to shake up the city’s nightlife scene. Alcotraz, a prison-inspired bar, and Moonshine Saloon, a Wild West-themed watering hole, are set to open their doors in Fortitude Valley, offering locals and visitors a chance to smuggle, sip, and scheme their way through two outlaw universes.
Alcotraz: A Prison Break with a Twist
Opening on March 20, 2026, Alcotraz promises to be more than just a bar—it’s a full-blown theatrical experience. Inspired by Hollywood’s most iconic prison stories, this immersive venue has already gained a cult following in London, Sydney, and Melbourne. Now, it’s Brisbane’s turn to don orange jumpsuits and step into a speakeasy-style cell block where contraband cocktails and crooked guards set the scene.
Upon arrival, guests are “processed” as inmates, complete with an inmate number and jumpsuit, before being ushered into a cell block where the drama unfolds. The experience is part role-play, part cocktail bar, with actors playing guards, inmates, and bootlegging accomplices who guide the narrative while serving expertly crafted drinks.
The cocktail menu is as creative as the concept, featuring concoctions like the Crime of Passion, a sweet yet sharp vodka-based drink with passionfruit liqueur, strawberry purée, and cranberry, and the Conspiracy, a smoky-sweet blend of mezcal, burnt coconut tequila, and chocolate butter with a hint of cinnamon. Whether you’re into cocktails, mocktails, beer, or wine, there’s something for everyone.
Sam Shearman, Director of Inventive Productions, the UK-based group behind Alcotraz, describes the venue as “a theatre set you can drink inside.” He adds, “We’re taking it beyond just a themed bar fit-out to a full theatre-style experience with costumes and actors. It’s all about creating something all-enveloping and unforgettable.”
Moonshine Saloon: A Wild West Adventure
As if one immersive experience wasn’t enough, Brisbane will also welcome the Moonshine Saloon on April 10, 2026. This Wild West-themed cocktail bar transports guests to the Prohibition era, where they’ll join Clyde Cassidy, the notorious king of the Moonshiners, in a smuggling empire. Moonshine Saloon marks its Australian debut in Brisbane, following its success in London.
The two venues share an interconnected storyline, encouraging guests to experience both for a complete journey from the Wild West underworld to life behind bars. Together, they bring a “choose-your-own-adventure” cocktail experience to Brisbane, a first for the city.

Located at the brand-new Fever Hub venue in Fortitude Valley, Alcotraz and Moonshine Saloon are ideal for any celebration—birthdays, anniversaries, hens or bucks nights, corporate outings, or even a date with a plot twist.
