Gift consciously with Carrol Boyes this Christmas + Win some of your own

Corrol Boyes is a South African designer whose taste is off the charts.

Some time ago, she realised we’re the generation who’re responsible for the bulk of the destruction of the planet and a society aptly labelled the ‘waste generation’.

So, her label, Carrol Boyes, is flipping the shopping mentality, reminding people to spend money on quality gifts instead of feeding the short lived pleasure of inexpensive and low quality purchases that add to the growing wastage in Australia.

“Fast homeware” is becoming a topic of hot conversation with millennials beginning to move out of home. With fast homeware goods readily available in department stores such as Kmart and Big W, there is cause for concern.

Carrol’s an artist and designer whose work is minimising her environmental footprint by injecting sustainability, quality and endless functionality into her namesake product’s designs.

“I try to create items that are accessible to most people, rather than just an elite few,” she said. “I’ve always aimed to combine sculpture with functionality. It’s easier for people to justify buying an expensive object that they have fallen in love with if they have a practical use for it.”

They’ve recently expended to over 87 stores around Australia, so it’s obvious she’s struck a chord.

And for Christmas, we’re celebrating the label’s success and schtick by giving away some of their most popular items to one lucky reader to the value of $445.

The Carrol Boyes range is available in David Jones and online. RRP starts from $35. For more information, visit the Carrol Boyes website
