Citi’s Moveable Feast Sydney

It’s not every day you share an intimate dinner with ChocolateSuze, 2 Hungry Guys, I Ate My Way Through, Grab Your Fork and a variety of other heavyweight food names.

At Citi’s Moveable Feast, a three course extravaganza took place at The Star in Pyrmont. It saw guests hopping from one restaurant to the next, sharing good food, good wine and great conversation in a medley of settings.

Beginning with The Century, the first quartet of appetisers spanned black fungus salad, cold cut cucumber, lightly battered eggplant and salt & pepper squid. Followed by a steamed dim sum sampler, the highlight of the sitting was a contrast between live and prepared scallops. Guests were treated to a selection of both and asked to take a punt at which was which.

Black was the next stop on the menu, starting with a delicious take on the standard bread and butter. For the mains, grass fed fillet beef steak was complemented by smoked potato, asparagus, charred onion and bone marrow jus – a truly mouth-watering combination.

The night ended with dessert at Sokyo, a charismatic Japanese restaurant also within The Star. The yuzu & white chocolate cheesecake contrasted with the sweet and sour tones of the accompaniments, which included blood peach granita, meringue, gingerbread crumbles and ginger gel.

McWilliam’s and Mount Pleasant wines were selected to match the courses throughout.

Citi’s Moveable Feast was an exclusive precursor to the Good Food Month’s Night Noodle Markets, which take place in October 2015.
