On 8 January 1935, one of the most influential recording artists of the 20th Century was born. Elvis Presley came into the world in Tupelo, Mississippi, but it was Memphis, Tennessee, that would become his home once he turned 13-years-old. With Memphis as his home, Elvis would become a legend and change music forever.
The King continues to be celebrated around the world every year, from Memphis to Sydney, with the pageantries only getting more and more amped up as the years go on. In 2025, we’ll reach what would have been Elvis’ 90th birthday, which you can guarantee will get the city and even the country buzzing.
Given the legacy and continued pop culture presence of the King of Rock and Roll, this is an opportunity that even music fans as far-flung as Australia shouldn’t miss!
A Global Superstar with a Lasting Legacy
Elvis Presley was much more than just a popular musician in his day. As foxnews.com correctly recounts, Presley was an icon who transformed just about everything that people loved about American culture, including fashion, entertainment, and, of course, music.
Throughout the 1950s, he bent popular music to his will, infusing country, R&B, and rockabilly to create a unique sound powered by his iconic voice. On the stage, he commanded huge audiences with incredible, dynamic shows that simply couldn’t be missed. Later, he’d take his charisma and knack for a show-stealing performance to the screen.
Even though he never performed beyond the US, Hawaii, and Canada, Elvis’ presence is still felt around the world and even beyond the record store. His look, name, and rhythm are so iconic that global entertainment continues to draw from his allure. Over in New Zealand, one of the most popular Megaways games is all about Elvis. Found at the bonus.net.nz Casino of the Month, Elvis Frog Trueways never fails to get spinners involved.
Here in Australia, there’s a very dedicated official Elvis Presley fan club, Elvis Australia, and each year, the Parkes Elvis Festival draws in hordes of fans. In 2025, the festival will commence on 8 January to celebrate the momentous 90th anniversary of Elvis’ birth and will almost certainly draw in over 25,000 fans across the five-day event, as parkes.nsw.gov.au shows.
Special 90th Birthday Celebrations Down Under
The Parkes Elvis Festival will be the biggest celebration of Elvis Presley in Australia next year. Even so, Aussie fans of The King will be able to celebrate well beyond the main event. The 32nd edition of the Parkes Elvis Festival 2025 concludes on 12 January, giving fans a packed five days of rock ‘n’ roll.
This year, it’ll be a groovy theme, with those in attendance encouraged to embrace the Easy Come, Easy Go state of mind and dress. Ensuring that Aussie Elvis fans can get their fill of the 90th birthday celebrations, the festival will also welcome the launch of the full-sized replica of the Gates of Graceland – one of the hottest tourist attractions in Memphis. Also featuring will be one of Australia’s top tribute artists, Jack Gatto, alongside a total of six ticketed shows at the Parkes Services Club.
Expected to welcome even more than the 25,000 attendees of last year, the 2025 Parkes Elvis Festival will almost certainly reaffirm its place as the largest celebration of The King in the Southern Hemisphere in 2025. All fans who can’t make the trip to Memphis for this monumental occasion will have more than enough to enjoy right here in Australia.
