Melbourne’s South-East has a new sweet spot! Food Voyageur, known for its delectable online cake delivery service, has opened its first physical store on Carlisle Street, Balaclava. For cake lovers and foodies alike, this charming new addition is a must-visit destination.
From online sensation to bricks-and-mortar delight
Before opening its doors, Food Voyageur had already built a loyal following through its online presence, delivering celebration cakes and cupcakes across Melbourne. However, high demand inspired chef and owner Rachithri ‘Rachi’ Fernandopulle to take the leap and create an in-person experience. The store’s inviting interior features pink accent walls, a black-and-white chequered floor, and a glass display showcasing the day’s treats. Velvet seating under glass chandeliers offers the perfect spot to enjoy cupcakes with barista-made coffee.
Cupcakes that delight
Food Voyageur’s cupcake selection is a feast for the senses, with at least 10 innovative and classic flavors available daily. Seasonal and trendy options make regular appearances, alongside fan favorites like the ever-popular Red Velvet. “I’ve been told it’s the best in Melbourne,” says Rachi. “We use real cream cheese, and I tested many recipes to perfect it. We’ve even had interstate visitors come just to try our cupcakes!”
Current offerings include unique flavors like Dubai Chocolate (with knafeh and pistachio filling), Lemon Meringue, and Tiramisu. Rachi’s passion for experimenting with flavors means there’s always something new to try. “I’m traveling to Turkey soon for inspiration, so watch this space!” she adds.
The team also creates custom cupcake designs for special events and corporate gifting, making them perfect for occasions like Easter, anniversaries, and sports celebrations.
Celebration cakes for every occasion
From elegant wedding cakes to playful themed birthday cakes, Food Voyageur has every celebration covered. With six cake flavors to choose from, including sponges and mud cakes, there’s something for every texture preference. On-trend vintage cakes, available in rounds and hearts with frilled icing, are a customer favorite. Mini Vintage Cakes, serving 4-6 people, start at just $59, while larger cakes serve up to 10 and can be personalized with fun messages like “Dirty Thirty” or “B’Day Bitch.”
Still delivering Melbourne-wide
For those who can’t make it to Balaclava, Food Voyageur continues to offer online ordering and delivery across Melbourne, ensuring everyone can enjoy their delicious cakes for celebrations, gifting, or simply indulging themselves.
