Egypt is making waves at this year’s East Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Exhibition (EMITT), bringing its record-breaking tourism success to the forefront. With 19 million international visitors in 2025, a 21% increase on the previous year, Egypt is proving itself as a major player in the Eastern Mediterranean and Eurasian travel markets.
The event, now in its 29th year, provides the perfect stage for Egypt to deepen its relationship with Türkiye, a key partner in the region. Turkish visitor numbers to Egypt rose by an impressive 56.5% in the first half of 2025, and the collaboration between the two nations is only set to grow.
Sherif Fathy, Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, sees this as an opportunity to build on the momentum. “We’re excited to work with Türkiye to create new travel experiences that combine Egypt’s rich history, culture, and luxury,” he said.

What Egypt Offers Turkish Travellers
Egypt’s appeal lies in its ability to offer something for everyone. For Turkish travellers, the country’s mix of shared heritage, adventure, and luxury is particularly enticing.
The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), which opened in late 2025 near the Giza Pyramids, is a must-see. Housing Tutankhamun’s treasures, 57,000 artefacts, and the iconic statue of Ramses II, it’s a cultural landmark that’s already drawing global attention.
Cairo’s historic mosques and Ottoman-era architecture highlight centuries of shared Mediterranean connections, while the city’s bustling arts scene, markets, and gastronomy offer a vibrant urban experience. For those seeking relaxation, Egypt’s North Coast and Red Sea resorts provide stunning beaches, world-class diving, and wellness retreats.
Faith-based travellers are also drawn to the Holy Family Trail and Islamic heritage sites, while modern conference facilities make Egypt an attractive destination for business events.
A Growing Partnership
Egypt’s tourism boom is supported by improved international connectivity, with more flights and charter options making it easier than ever to visit. This increased accessibility, combined with a diverse range of experiences, has solidified Egypt’s reputation as a top destination for culture, adventure, and luxury.
As Egypt and Türkiye continue to strengthen their ties, events like EMITT 2026 highlight the potential for even greater collaboration. With its rich history, modern infrastructure, and growing appeal, Egypt is not just a destination—it’s an experience waiting to be discovered.
