Aamir Khan in Melbourne for Indian Film Festival

The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) is set to shine brighter than ever in 2025, with the announcement that celebrated actor, filmmaker, and cultural icon Aamir Khan will headline the 16th edition of the Festival as its official Chief Guest.

Known for his extraordinary contributions to Indian cinema, Khan’s presence will be marked by a special retrospective honoring his legacy, culminating in a spotlight event on his latest film, Sitaare Zameen Par.

A Retrospective Honoring a Cinematic Legend

Spanning over four decades, Aamir Khan’s illustrious career has delivered some of Indian cinema’s most influential and socially conscious works, including Taare Zameen Par, Dangal, Lagaan, PK, and Secret Superstar. His latest film, Sitaare Zameen Par, continues this legacy with a heartfelt story about a basketball coach who finds purpose mentoring a team of neurodivergent adults. The film has been widely praised for its empathy, humanity, and inclusive storytelling.

IFFM 2025 will celebrate Khan’s artistic impact with a specially curated selection of his most iconic films. A highlight of the retrospective will be a screening of Sitaare Zameen Par, followed by an exclusive live conversation with Aamir Khan, the film’s director RS Prasanna, and Aparna Purohit, CEO of Aamir Khan Films. This event will offer audiences a rare glimpse into the creative process behind the film and the vision that drives Khan’s work.
