Zebra Green Is Bondi Junction’s Greatest Local Eatery

It’s not often you’d think of Bondi Junction as a hub for anything other than the end of the Sydney eastern train line or Westfield’s shopping mecca, but the time has come to paint the suburb with a broader brush and put ‘quality eating’ in the mix, too.

Zebra Green is doing it. They’re one such quality eatery in Bondi Junction that is serving up quality retro comfort food in a comfortable, non-wanky setting that once yo’ve tried, you’d seriously consider returning to.

Unassuming along Bronte Rd., Zebra Green is a converted two-storey period home that has been converted into a restaurant. With back courtyard for the warmer months and a cosy, indoor, mismatched-decor interior for diners, it’s like walking into your family home for Christmas: warm, inviting, comfortable and easy.

The food, though is where Zebra Green truly shines. Hearty, heavy, wholesome and desirable, the chefs work hard to churn out some tantalising morsels that you would never cook for yourself, but are just too glad that someone else did for you.

They combine unique ingredients to hit the right note and it all works so very well. Whether it’s calamari, cous cous and chorizo; corn fritters, smashed avocado and their own house smokey apple sweet chilli sauce or something as unique as a warming salmon broth curry, you know you’re eating quality.

The sauce, though is definitely one of Zebra Green’s most unique selling points. The sauces are far from infamous and just really, really nice. They’re not only stocked all over Sydney, but made of quality ingredients and taste phenomenal.

Their food is created with all these in mind and with a curated wine list by sommelier Andreas Puha.
