Why do we love Topshop? Because Topshop loves us.

It was never really any secret that Topshop would be a smash hit amongst the Australian market when it first landed in Melbourne as a first port-of-call in about 2012. Since then, they’ve seen the benefit of having a hefty presence in one of the country’s best shopping destinations and though it high time to smear itself across a few more surfaces city-wide.

Enter Topshop Topman Emporium Melbourne; the newest thing since the shopping centre itself.

Complete with three levels of impressively stylish and accessibly cheap men’s, women’s and tweens’ merchandise, the UK retailer’s command of the over 2,000 square metre retail space doesn’t go unnoticed.   They’ve got enough staff to man a couple of sea vessels by the sounds of it and enough turnover of stock to rival the likes of Zara’s main operation throughout Europe.

Talking to some of the head honchos like newly appointed Managing Director Sonia Bettega at Topshop Emporium, it’s no wonder the business does so well. The fact that over 300 pieces of new stock arrives weekly is also an indication of the demand on the retail giant.

They speak to a certain demographic, which is obvious when you first walk through the doors into a clean, minimal shop fit out with hidden surprises and welcome accentuations on elements like mannequin pods, but it does the job.

At their recent preview day, ambassadors and ‘friends of the brand’ hung out with fellow bloggers, media folks and general riffraff including the bartenders from a new alcoholic trend, Trolleyd, to admire the store. Flicking through the new season stock – which interestingly enough is operating as a counter-seasonal offering in comparison to competitors – trying and buying filled the exclusively hosted night.
