The Best Bits Of The Melbourne International Flower And Garden Show
Always a highlight in the Melbourne events calendar, the 2016 Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show is back and better than ever.
We’re really not kidding – for the first time ever, a new Gardens by Twilight event will be the talk of the town as visitors are given the rare opportunity to see the gardens and floral designs in all of its splendid twilight glory. Along with music, food and drinks, it’s the perfect night out with friends or family.
Wondering through all the fragrant flowers and pleasant scents permeating the Royal Exhibition Building, the RMIT Floral Fashion Competition stole the show with the amazing plant-based designs created by the talented cohort of RMIT Fashion Design students. From leaves, stems and flowers, no plant had gone to waste with each of the creations – proving that beautiful art can come in all shapes and forms. If fashion isn’t necessarily your shtick, we recommend the Great Hall of Flowers, where Victoria’s leading florists and designers will be present to exhibit the best the floriculture industry has to offer.
Indeed, it’s a huge festival with plenty of ground to cover, so you’ll more than likely require a two-day pass. For families and any avid Disney fans young or old, the Disney Fairies Children’s Garden is the place to be because Arlo and Spot from The Good Dinosaur will be making an appearance to put that smile on your dial.
And let’s not forget the new Gardens by Twilight event, where attendees will immerse themselves with live fire acts, melodic street buskers and all around fun times with areas open exclusively for the night including the Landscape Show Gardens, Achievable Gardens and the Great Hall of Flowers in the Royal Exhibition Building.
