Taste of Sydney by Victorinox

Over four delicious days, the Taste of Sydney event celebrated some of the city’s finest and hottest restaurants thanks to the support of leading players in the knife game, Victorinox.

Taste of Sydney is a spectacular food celebration showing Sydney’s cultivating dining scene. The park was filled with a variety of stallholders keeping you busy throughout the day, from choosing sample dishes from Sydney’s hottest restaurants, mixing with award-winning chefs and foodies alike, to in-house food and drink producers and many interactive foodie attraction.

The food was simply delicious. Plates were flying past counters and quickly selling out before some were even able to have a bite and try, including Porteno’s BBQ’d icon dish – a BBQ’d porchetta with chilli, fennel, silverbeet & truffle pecorino – and MoVida’s Embutidos – morcon jamon, fuet and manchego. For all the not-so-educated foodies, these ingredients may be new to your recipe books, but they made these dishes absolutely mouth-watering. But don’t worry, the Victorinox sponsors were also there to help educate your food knowledge.

Visitors were treated with watching Sydney’s best chefs live in action using Victorinox’s premium kitchen knives exclusively. Chefs and food specialists included Mark Best, Colin Fassnidge, and Richard Ptacnik, offered their own take and views on the most innovative and exciting cuisine, teaching fellow food-lovers various kitchen techniques, including ways to successfully pair flavours in the kitchen and how to perfect knife skills.

Some attractions included Time-outs hop up bar, providing some home handcrafted brews, or Electrolux Taste theatre putting on Australia’s leading chefs on show with their cooking demonstrations, and even ‘First Date Butterfly House’ by Dimmi making you a bit nostalgic by connecting you to restaurants most suitable for you.

It was a very food-filled day, leaving both myself, and my stomach, very much satisfied! See you next year Taste of Sydney.
