Target X VAMFF

Virgin Australia celebrated the last day of the Melbourne Fashion Festival in style with the Target Australia runway show. Hosted within the beautiful setting of Central Pier Docklands, the scene was set for waving goodbye to summer and welcoming autumn-winter 15.

The show was opened by the beautiful and incredibly talented Jessica Mauboy making her runway debut with some fun and playful boho looks. Including plenty of tassels, playsuits, knee high boots and hats, the order of this collection was set with fur vests and floral prints, making it the most boho chic moment of the evening.

With it being winter fashion after all, where would we be without a chunky knit? This is a definite wardrobe staple for this season, layered with a cropped leather jacket or oversized coat it can be dressed up and down, it will always look good and Target have plenty on offer.

Colour trends spotted on the runway where earthy tones such as burnt oranges and khaki greens for your coats, vests and outer wear, featuring big collared coats and statement scarves. For your office wear however, gear up for more of soft pastel palate, easing you into winter work fashion with dusty pinks and blush colours.

Dannii Minogue’s petite collection was the standout of the evening, showcasing some definitively more tailored looks. Dannii’s petite range features some beautiful jeans and blazer combinations, with this appearing to be her signature look so far.

The collection includes an array of jeans which are perfectly fitted to the petite, from light denim to black, high – waisted to low rise, Dannii’s jeans fit like a glove and are perfectly true to size. Her blazers are made beautifully and give that tailored feel but with a slight edge.

Not to be outdone by the women, the male models made their own impact with a strong underwear march, showcasing Targets finest underwear and sleepwear range and bringing the audience to their feet. Other trends for men this season include the reign of the mis-matched suit; find a good pair of bold chinos to team with a dark suit jacket and you will be bang on trend for this AW15 season. For a more casual look, the models were styled in the chinos with a classic knit and puffer vest, suitable for all ages including the cute as pie kiddies who walked alongside the big boys!

The show was closed with a spectacular performance from Jessica Mauboy which had the audience up and moving and was a very fitting ending for such a fun and well-rounded show. The Target brand does so well to create that family feel within their collections, with the brand ambassadors and designers Dannii Minogue, Jessica Mauboy and Giaan Rooney all representing one big Target family.

This was not your run of the mill runway show, the energy and approach that Target brought to the fashion festival definitely made it a stand out and it completely embodied the brands core values from beginning to end.

It’s too admirable that Target can reach such a large demographic with their clothes, proving that season trends are available for every age and gender from your children to grandparents, at an excellent quality and affordable price.
