Stacks Taverna, Sydney

By Henry Ng.

Stacks Taverna is a contemporary style restaurant serving a modern blend of Mediterranean and Australian cuisines. Located in Sydney’s newest and most vibrant community precinct, the venue also has a bar that boosts a wide selection of beers, refreshing cocktails and an international wine list.

The menu, like the alcohol list, is extensive and offers a variety of meats and seafood choices. We were served Pan Fried Haloumi and Tempura Zucchini Flowers for starters and our taste buds were immediately greeted with an explosion of savoury flavours and textures. Mains arrived in the form of Char Grilled Salmon Fillet and Seafood Risotto and again, we were not disappointed with the taste. The dessert menu offers several choices to excite the palate, from the decadent Chocolate Indulgence to the adventurous Apple Crumble Pizza. We settled for Sticky Date Pudding and Passionfruit Brulee and while I did not manage well the acquired flavour of the latter, the pillowy texture of the pudding and butterscotch taste of the former quickly provided a safe sugary haven.

As part of the Nicks restaurant and bar group, Stacks Taverna is a quick break from the bustle of the city and an atmosphere that is suited for a lively gathering or a relaxed date. Food is bound to fill and please and the alfresco dining provides a great opportunity to people watch.
