Spring Racing Style Guide: Derby Day

If you’re a traditionalist or have any form of style and respect for the grand nature of what’s about to unfold in Flemington this November and the Melbourne Cup, you’d pay attention to the codes and conventions of the spring racing season:

1) Dress up.

2) Look like you made an effort.

3) Look good.

4) Don’t take your shoes off (girls).

5) Stick to the dress codes of each race day.

Simple rules, but still, we need a helping hand from time-to-time.

Jack London is a favourite menswear label of mine that has taken the guess work out of choosing what to wear each race day and put it all in black & white

Derby Day, Saturday 1 November 2014

The key to the day is dressing in black & white or tones of grey. Monochromatic is your master and classic style is your flair.

Jack London‘s current range of slim-fit tailoring and traditional shapes and styles with some brilliant modern-day twists are the rage (always have been), so here are some favourites that you still have time to pick-up before race day.
