Shayli

First showcased in Melbourne Spring Fashion Week, Australian independent fashion label Shayli is a colourful exaggeration of the philosophical and innovative cognitive swirls of Australian born and raised fashion designer, Shayli Harrison.

Her collection Vacant Space is inspired by the launch of Virgin Galactic, Richard Branson’s space project, and the future of space tourism.

She was spurred on by the question inside her begging to know whether the idea of synthetic versus authentic experiences are real or not and if adventure is still indeed possible.

Through the explorative use of colour, line and silhouettes with maximum impact in her collection, it’s apparent she’s answered her own question.

Shayli describes herself as an ‘avant garde’ designer, drawn to the obscure and with a penchant for translating her philosophical thoughts into pieces of artwork in clothing.
Having lived around the country with her roots in Perth and time spent in Sydney, she now resides in Melbourne and draws her influences from the places she’s been and people she’s met.
After her studies drew to a close, Shayli’s success was set when in 2008 she was awarded Designer of the Year by the Whitehouse Institute of Fashion, the starting place of her bright future in fashion design.
