PUMA Celebrates 25 Years Of The Disc System
Puma’s disc trainer turns 25 in style with the iconic no-lace fastener celebrating a quarter-century with a sock liner makeover.
To celebrate the Disc System’s 25th anniversary, Puma is introducing the Ignite Disc Sleeve, a modern rework of the 1990’s classic. Back in the ’90s, PUMA’s patented Disc closure system changed the way select sneakers were designed. The heralded technology allowed for a removal of laces, as it implemented an internal wire system that tightened the upper in order to create a custom fit.
Like the original model, the Ignite Disc Sleeve features three key elements: a circular disc closing unit, a pre-moulded compression unit and a side unit consisting of connecting sleeve and stabilising elements. The contemporary iteration boasts Ignite Foam, an updated and slimmer Disc System and a minimalist upper for a snug fit. The retooled Disc System is quicker to turn, allowing it to tighten faster, all while featuring smooth and durable steel wires that wrap and secure the upper.
Rihanna also sports the PUMA Ignite Disc Sleeve in the latest drop of ad campaigns which are available now at their website.
