Priscilla Queen of the Desert will make your life worth living in Melbourne

It’s a hoot! It’s a romp! It’s a glam, camp spectacle!

Priscilla Queen of the Desert has landed back in Melbourne and has very quickly become one of the must see musicals of the season. Not only is the stellar cast incredible, but the sets, the costumes, and the orchestra are delivering a fantastic new standard of excellence.

The standout performance of the night was the fabulous return performance by Tony Sheldon in the role of ageing showgirl Bernadette.

After touring worldwide with the show and giving 1750 performances of the same role, he could be forgiven for going through the motions, but this consummate professional delivered a fresh, spontaneous, and energetic performance that leaves the audience begging for more.

The wonderfully talented ensemble puts their body on the line time after time, delivering full energy performances throughout the entire show. This is most evident in the end of act one number ‘I Will Survive’ where the combination of an iconic song and sheer energy have the audience dancing in their seats.

For die-hard fans of the movie, you may feel like the show misses some of the heart of the story, but it swiftly makes up for it with some extra razzle-dazzle that puts a twinkle in your eye and a smile on your face.

Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical is playing at the Regent Theatre Melbourne until 29 April. See more at the website.
