Nova’s Red Room Stereosonic Edition Tore Up Marquee Sydney
Marquee Sydney at The Star Casino threw open its doors to a burgeoning crowd of VIPs and competition winners to be treated to the dance tracks of Diplo, Galantis, MaRlo, Generik, Armin van Buuren and Axwell in an exclusively extended version of their line-up at Stereosonic music fest. To say it went off is an understatement.
Yeah, sure, there were drinks and food, yeah sure, there were people dressed to dance and those dressed to pose. It’s fair to say that by the end of the night, not a body wasn’t moving to the deep house tracks of Diplo and the others which tore the roof off the venue and kept the crowd entertained for a fair five hour stint. Lights exploded, lasers shot, bodies convulsed and the DJs lived for every second of the experience that was honestly enjoyed by all without any of the overflow of dickens you expect for anything else associated with Seterosonic.
All of the artist’s hit tracks were played like Galantis’ Runaway, Peanut Butter Jelly and You and Diplo’s Set Me Free and Revolution, each track just sending the crowd into more of a frenzy that by midnight they weren’t sure of the time, date or venue anymore, short of one fact; it was great.
Marquee as a venue is perfect for this kind of thing. Spacious with it various rooms, stylish with its attention to interior design, finishings and unique architectural layout and luxe with its upper-end embellishments like bathroom staff and bar space. For a packed out show in a room that can cater quite a few, it was refreshing to see how much Sydney turned out for quality contemporary dance music with something different – and always exciting – to offer.
Though it’s possible Stereosonic is on its way out on account of all the… mishaps that it attracts year-on-year, making the most of it while it’s still a thing was a LOT of fun.
