NOLA Smokehouse: the place to go in Sydney for your New Orleans fix outside America

There’s nothing like a good seafood gumbo to make you feel like you’re in the Deep South. Even if you’ve never had the pleasure of visiting New Orleans, with rich flavours, flowing drinks and a speakeasy hideaway vibe; nowhere does the pursuit of pleasure like NOLA Smokehouse.

NOLA Smokehouse is a welcome addition to Barangaroo’s foodie precinct with it’s Creole and Cajun dishes. Must-try dishes include the mac and cheese with maple bacon and pretzels, mignonette oysters, Rangers Valley onyx brisket and of course for dessert, America’s favourite, s’mores. If you’re looking for bar nibbles, the Southern fried chicken is the best we have ever had. Not a word of a lie.

Much like the famous Bourbon and Frenchman streets of New Orleans lined with endless bars, NOLA Smokehouse serves up a great variety of Southern sips. From whiskey flights for all tastes, to the famous New Orleans Hurricane cocktail (currently available in a sharable punch bowl) and a range of Louisiana beers (we highly recommend the Abita ‘Purple Haze’ raspberry lager), there’s a tipple for every taste bud.

Perhaps what’s most enticing about NOLA Smokehouse though is it’s group dining options. Dining out in Sydney in more than a group of four can be a challenge at times, but Southern hospitality is alive and well here, with banquet and 3-course set group menus starting at $80p.p, and 2.5 hour beverage packages starting at $55p.p. Hosting an event has never been easier.

NOLA Smokehouse’s ‘What’s On’ section always has something new to enjoy. Valentine’s Day, Thanksgiving and New Years packages have been offered in the past, along with cocktail appreciation classes and food themed day events (Whiskey Sour day anyone?!), so be sure to always check their Facebook page to see what exciting offering they’ll have next! We for one are on the looking to indulge in their peanut butter jelly time dessert on National Peanut Butter Day.
