New Shanghai’s new Wine List
New Shanghai has a new wine list.
Chinese love wine, so it makes sense that their food is surrounded by a nice spread of options when it comes to what to match to their delicacies.
New Shanghai is a gorgeous Shanghai-style restaurant situated inside Chatswood Chase shopping centre in North Sydney and is one of five New Shanghai restaurants around Sydney. Not to mention its premier offering in Melbourne at Emporium.
Chatswood’s restaurant is moody and modern, sporting decor inside that is reminiscent of the old Shanghai streets with vintage Chinese posters covering the walls, wooden red stools and brown tables, a bar looking into the open kitchen and of course a 1930s bicycle motif welcoming guests.
New Shanghai works with Glen Caldwell sharing his expertise on wines and their perfection with various Chinese cuisines. Unveiling seven new wines which he hand picked perfectly to complement the flavour of each dish, Caldwell took a group of previewers through the menu in Sydney recently.
With specialities on offer such as pork belly steam buns with pinot gris and garlic pork ribs with Taltarni shiraz, the menu is a prime example of a venue with something special to offer and the right tools to do so.
