MSFW: Lui Hon

Melbourne designer Lui Hon is about as typically black as design would permit.

His collection as it debuted at Melbourne Spring Fashion Week for spring-summer stayed true to form, though to brighten the mood, pops of varying monochromatics and textures featured prominently alongside dramatic hemlines and sleek feminine forms.

Lui Hon has always stuck to a streamlined silhouette with feminine features and a textural ‘wow-factor’ that other designers tend to overlook. Akin with the likes of the European powerhouses, Lui Hon‘s work this season in his ‘Self Titled’ collection favours the fish tail finishings on dresses, an homage to the vintage skater dress style and boxy silhouetted coats and dresses to bring an air of interest to his more sombre pieces.
