MBFWA: Song For The Mute

Song For the Mute is an Australian menswear label to reinvent Australian menswear labels.

Their penchant for fabrication, dramatic design and use of line and draping but all the while – and this is key – in a masculine manner, Song For the Mute is a brilliant and so welcome addition to Australian menswear design.

They debuted their current season at Sydney’s recent Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia, attributing their success and determination to their business partnership with leading Australian luxury menswear department store, Harrolds.

Song for the Mutes’ return to the MBFWA schedule saw the designers mesh virgin wool blends and alpaca with technical developments of paraffin and resin coated fabrics to heighten tactile sensation to the constructed silhouettes.

International hip-hop artist Lupe Fiasco closed the show wearing a signature cocoon coat in pressed, waxed mohair, bopping to the track exclusively mixed for the runway presentation by US artist, and long-time friend of the brand DannyDaze.
