Mad Rabbit Kicking Tiger

Going from Harvard to the wonderful world of the rag trade, you get a lot of insight into what works and what doesn’t; what people like and what they don’t.

Thankfully for Tom Pen, the man behind the brand that is Mad Rabbit Kicking Tiger, otherwise known as M.R.K.T., that’s exactly what’s taken place in the fashionable and innovative line of colourful bags he has introduced to the Australian market.

M.R.K.T. is a colliding, of sorts, of the geometric and man-made with the organic and the mostly-natural, bringing a masculine rigidity and geometry to bag design.

Through experimentation with unconventional materials, such as felt and TPU, and laser-cutting production techniques, the brand has grown to embody an innovative, progressive, and somewhat “MAD” creative spirit.

It doesn’t take long to realise that M.R.K.T. embodies a very unique aesthetic.

“We see many designs and brand concepts in the market today that follow the leader and seem to blend together. At M.R.K.T., we’re breaking the trend, encouraging uniqueness, and testing unconventional ideas. We want to offer something new and alternative to our customers,” says M.R.K.T. Co-Founder and Director, Shaun Nath.

“Our products are designed very similarly to how I design buildings. They are conceptual, practical, flexible, and very clean. Our inspiration comes mainly from architectural practices and classic bag design,” says founder Tom Pen. In additional to bold colors, unique patterns, and unconventional materials, M.R.K.T. products are also designed using socially responsible materials such as bio-degradable TPU and recyclable felt. Pen added, “Being a forward-thinking and modern brand, the choice to take this approach came naturally.”
