La Traviata Opera Australia

La Traviata by Opera Australia is coming to Sydney with sweetheart soprano Nicole Car

Opera Australia is bringing back an old favourite for the summer season of 2018 – La Traviata

The favourite tale made even more renowned by Richard Gere and Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman will take to the Joan Sutherland Theatre stage in March, boasting the return of favourite soprano, Nicole Car in the title role.

Also starring other OA favourites like Ji-Min Park, Vitaliy Bilyy and Melburnian Stacey Alleaume, the latest production of La Traviata will promise a visual feast of dramatic backdrops, enticing costumery and a heart-wrenching tale of elation, degradation and finality.

Nicole Car makes her return to the stage with Opera Australia in the title role of Violetta Valéry. A milestone for the singer who’s been described at ‘the next Joan Sutherland’, Nicole returns to Sydney off the back of her most recent engagements include her debut at the Paris Opera, a concert performance of Massenet’s Thaïs at Sydney Town Hall and Puccini’s La Bohème at Covent Garden.

Produced by Elijah Moshinsky, this year’s production of La Traviata is one of Opera Australia’s most successful, featuring opulent party scenes in Paris and beautiful autumn afternoons in the countryside.
