Johnnie Walker Blue Label Room at The Stables, Sydney

Made from one barrel in every ten thousand this expensive label in the Johnnie Walker collection is extremely rare and unique. Only 1 in 10,000 casks contain whisky of sufficient character to deliver Johnnie Walker Blue Label’s remarkably smooth signature taste.

The Stables at Sydney’s Royal Randwick Racecourse has been selected as the location for the Johnnie Walker Blue Label Room and on the night of the launch, guests were treated to a menu perfected by Masterchef 2014 finalist and National Ambassador for the Diageo Reserve Whisky Portfolio, Sean Baxter. This mixture of fine foods aimed to match the palette of the whisky that we would consume.

Speaking of the palette of the whisky, Mr Baxter, who has an affection for good food, fine whisky and Antiques Roadshow, gives a passionate explanation of the flavours inside the bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label.

“Johnnie Walker Blue Label is a representation of this history; a representation of these flavours that you would’ve found back in the middle part of the 1800s in Scotland. Bold flavors from the islands with smoke and maritime characters; soft, delicate flavours from the lowlands; rich, fruity, sherry driven notes from the spey side and highland areas. All of them combined into this wonderful, wonderful whisky.”

The Johnnie Walker Blue Label Room is situated on Level 4 of The Stables, Sydney. The classically designed room includes soft leather seating and cabinets displaying rare and expensive whiskies that sit under a rooftop display of the Johnnie Walker constellation. This constellation is a flavour map, showing the flavours of the entire collection of Johnnie Walker whisky.

As the bar extends and you step onto the balcony, you are invited to capture a beautiful view of Sydney including both the Anzac and Sydney Harbour Bridge. Cushy booths and elegant seats line the outside area for guests to take a break and enjoy the view with a cold glass of Johnnie Walker.

There’s no better place than the Johnnie Walker Blue Label room to enjoy intimate moments with a sip of this delicate drink. You cannot help but be enchanted by the magic that is the Johnnie Walker archives and as you sit there, gazing out upon Sydney, tasting your Blue Label is like having the Johnnie Walker history in a glass.
