Visit West Hollywood and stay at The Jeremy

West Hollywood isn’t slammed with hotels, but the ones it has set the bar high when it comes to what to expect from Californian accommodation.

The Jeremy Hotel  West Hollywood on Sunset Boulevard is one of them, bringing a brand new, well-polished, light, airy, Scandinavian feel to the strip that can’t be contended with.

Having opened in August of this year, The Jeremy West Hollywood boats the fact it’s the latest hotel to be constructed from the ground-up in 1.9-square mile city in over 30 years. That alone is impressive enough.

It’s about spaciousness and showcasing not only the best of what the Starwood Capital Group can do, but art, music and lifestyle by way of striking and inviting installations.

Take for example the localised partnership and pop-ups that calls the hotels’ lobby ‘home’, since opening, an inaugural and coveted celebrity Gibson Guitar installation created in collaboration with local charity VH1 Save the Music. Though temporary, the colourful and playful artistic injection pays a grounding homage to the likes of Miley Cyrus, Patti Smith, Slash, The Roots, and Wyclef Jean, all whom called West Hollywood their own for a time.

The hotel comprises two looming towers at the base of the Hollywood Hills. From there, the 286-room hotel offers genuinely uninterrupted views of the Los Angeles basin, from right down La Cienega Boulevard – the direct route to and from LAX – to Downtown LA, and on a clear day, glimpses of the Santa Monica ocean.

It’s an attention-commanding piece of luxurious construction, incorporating art seamlessly into many of the most notable elements of the hotel and its rooms. By working with lighting professional Walter Barry and artist Janet Echelman, the hotel’s incorporated Dreamcatcher art installation that hangs casually in-between the east and west towers of the hotel ignites the mind before the rooms truly knock you down.

They’ve opted for a contemporary feel throughout the hotel, focusing on subtle, overtly quality details instead of bold accentuations, making The Jeremy feel more like home rather than the bustling, larger scale hotel it is.

Designers Skidmore, Owings & Merrill opted for understated stylish design elements that feature a modern atmosphere with sophisticated touches, mixing airs of old-world Hollywood with the contemporary. From hand-finished walls, custom designed light fixtures, and walnut wooden panelling throughout the hotel, The Jeremy is a hotel with simple, modern style that you can’t help but like.

With a cafe, bar and restaurant all its own, fitness centre and pool that offers those same sweeping views of the basin on the southern side of the hotel, The Jeremy takes everything you know and love about hotels, polishes it, makes it cooler than your average and serves it up at a price that you wouldn’t expect for such a hotel in the heart of greater Los Angeles.
