InHabit by Dion Lee
Met with vanilla scented candles, beautifully natural bouquets and a crowd full of women, the night possessed a certain feminine air about; as seconded by the new collection from the mind of Dion Lee.
Simple, sleek and sophisticated; these words epitomise Lee’s new work. Right off the back of being showcased in the infamous New York fashion week in February earlier this year, it’s easy to see why this young designer’s modern style is quickly becoming one of Australia’s most revered and sort out.
Cloaked under richly moody navy, black and hunter greens, Lee goes back to basics, boasting a “more raw” flair perfect for the current Melbourne winter. Using silks, pure cottons and pure wools, the quite restrained pieces embody a more athletic look focusing on more technical and signature designs which capture the light.
The highlight of the night was a stunning green mohair coat; oversized, with a deep v-neck line, large pockets and high black lapels, it is just one of Lee’s pieces of which is met with an approachable ease and a universality that is constantly sort after by women today.
Dion Lee’s work is the newest collection to hit Westfield Doncaster’s InHabit; a standalone retail space which provides the opportunity for young budding Australian designers to showcase their talent to a wider market.
