How PetCloud Opens-Up Many Surprising Places To Meet A Date
It happened this week while walking a damn dog. Yes, man’s best friend can also be your best wingman. A leash in your hand instantly elevates you to Ryan Gosling status. This became clear when I thought I try out a site called PetCloud.
An ‘AirBnb-esque’ website, I was able to sign up and create my Pet Sitting listing in minutes.
Being the perpetual bachelor that I am, I’m never home, and travel every chance I get, but I do love dogs. I just can’t commit to one long term. Story of my life. So when the chance came up to get paid for the pleasure of picking a dog to hang out with, I was sold.
Shortly after signing up, and completing a few verifications I received a message on PetCloud that a Pet Owner who owned a dachshund (sausage dog) wanted to book me for the weekend. Why not? I thought. So I accepted.
When Friday evening rolled around, the Pet Owner drove around to my place to meet me with my new sausage friend, along with all food, bedding, and leads. Then 10 minutes later, the Owner was waving goodbye.
It was me and Sam the sausage.
That night we just watched Netflix and chilled. As much as I tried, Sam wouldn’t stay in his bed and half way through the night snuck up and was my toe warmer for the rest of the night.
Saturday morning. I decided to take him out for a stroll and we ended up at a dog friendly cafe and I ordered my take away latte. Usually, the only person I’d attract at a cafe would be the old ladies on pension day. But with Sam I became instantaneously a magnet in a metaphorical bed of iron filings.
Sure, all eyes were initially on the hound, but then I suddenly became the more appealing package.
Before I knew it, my Saturday was accompanied by Katie, who was a local Vet Nurse who was also having coffee at the cafe that morning.
Six months later, my weekends are still accompanied by Katie, as well as my week days. As for pets, we ended up getting our own dog who gets to have play dates through pet sitting.
