The Glasshouse, QV

Glasshouse 1

By Holly Thomas.

The sun shone brightly down on the QV Glasshouse for a perfectly stunning spring event as part of QV Melbourne’s Spring Uncovered festival. Hosted by Nova 100’s Lauren Brain and showcasing some beautiful evening gowns from Jason Grech, QV launched the start of spring in a beautifully decadent and very Olde – English fashion. The QV Glasshouse has been lavishly designed by Flower Temple and is a cool breath of fresh spring air with beautiful shrubbery lining the walls and quaint little tea light candles hanging from the ceiling. Adding to the sheer decadence of the event were some very dapper waiters complete with white tuxedos and bow ties, treating guests to some beautifully bottled, spring themed champagne from Perrier Jouet.

Undoubtedly, the highlight of the evening however was the absolutely stunning collection of evening gowns from Jason Grech. With the collection described by the evening’s host, Lauren Brain as “Russian military meets German dominatrix” guests were left wondering how such a style would compliment this opulent and extremely chic event. We were presented with some beautifully elegant floor length gowns with a twist, each gown complete with its own sexy and very 50 Shades of Grey inspired touch in the form of a strapped harness to accentuate the back or a padlock and key feature. The gowns featured some daring splits with most being hinched in at the waste with narrow belts and almost all having a plunging neckline. As the floor length gowns swept the artificial grass runway, this “dominatrix” feel perfectly complimented the quaint English style glasshouse, whilst adding and contributing some serious glam. Jason Grech’s gowns are extremely elegant and tasteful whilst still having an edge and that little something different to really wow you.

As the tagline to the event suggested, a sumptuous spring was indeed uncovered at QV Glasshouse with all aspects of the evening binding together to mark and to launch spring with a beautifully luxurious and whimsical bang.
