To celebrate the United States’ Independence Day it turned on a show of gastronomic proportion to a throng of hungry Americanisers.

Tucked away on Kensington Street in Sydney’s new, cool culinary precinct in Chippendale, Eastside Grill is located on level 1 of The Old Rum Store Building, which oozes those Manhattan meatpacking district vibes.

The dark, sexy and theatrical restaurant offers-up an underground-above-ground edge. With all the hallmarks of a typical New York grill restaurant – apart from the brass light fixtures, herringbone flooring and steel and leather chairs – it has the feel.

Chef Stanley Wong really goes to town with the food, serving delicious American classics like to die for mac and cheese and wagyu beef sliders that you’d happily sell a kidney for. A crowd favourite is the beef carpaccio, which was revealed after a smoke-filled cloche is lifted off – magical.

Dessert is also on fire – literally! The bar was cleared and a smorgasbord of mini, delectable desserts were served including included the creamiest crème brûlée, which was set alight and still cooking right in front of everyone’s eyes.

Y’all should treat yourself and check out Eastside Grill.

God Bless America!
