Feruccio Furlanetto Opera Australia recital

Ferruccio Furlanetto & Igor Tchetuev in recital with Opera Australia

World renowned baritone, Italian Ferruccio Furlanetto flew in to Sydney recently to make an appearance on the stage of the Sydney Recital Hall that was more than well-received.

For an hour and twenty minutes, he and pianist, Ukrainian Igor Tchetuev performed in a recital after Furlanetto wound-up his acclaimed performances as King Philip II in Don Carlos to give two recitals with pianist Igor Tchetuev.

Furlanetto is sought after worldwide, from the Metropolitan Opera to La Scala, to sing the great bass roles.

And sing the great ones, he did! In a recital entitled Winterreise by German composer Franz Schubert, Furlanetto and Tchetuev performed 24 pieces, peppered with the melancholy of love lost, cold nights and the majesty of elemental intervention.

The first instalment of the recital was part one of two, with the second element entitled Russian love songs, featuring the musical genius of Rachmaninov and Mussorgsky.

Listen to some of the wonder of Furlanetto’s pipes below…
