FAKASAKA Jewellery Collection

Fakasaka

Yes the name is deceiving, but what it encompasses is enough to knock your socks off… in more ways than one.

Sterling silver is one of the most incredible materials to work with when it comes to jewellery and accessories crafting and one of my personal favourites. It shines, it’s resilient, it’s durable and up until recently, I thought could only be crafted into some slightly impressive designs and styles.

That’s until I came across Fernando Akasaka’s self-titled label, FAKASAKA; a collection of sterling silver and metallic jewellery and accessory pieces with a deeper, darker, more sinister aesthetic, perfect for the more slight in style and adventurous in tastes.

Fernando is an engineer and business administration professional whose lack of interest for his the chosen career was too great to handle and led to an explosion in his inner creative, which led to accessory design. In 2006 he decided to start his own company and really get into design as a career. In the beginning the company was focused primarily on developing and producing furniture, lighting and decoration objects. Later on, the jewellery came into the scene. For Fernand, designing is experimenting and the jewellery collection is the result of experiments with shapes and textures, influenced by the underground scene, dark and rebellious aesthetics.
