The Emirates Melbourne Cup

In about three days, Melbourne will be absorbed into a frenzy of equine-obsessed fancy and consumption like nowhere else the country knows.

It’s the start of the Melbourne spring racing festival in Flemington, an event so renowned that last year – which I was fortunate enough to attend – was graced with the British Royals Charles and Camilla, bedecked in finery inspired from the world over and heralded by the races’ principal sponsor, Emirates.

Celebrating the great relationship the Middle-Eastern nations have with Australia and now the rest of the world, thanks in large part to their extensive airline, Emirates is again this year pulling-out all stops to please and wow its guests from all walks.

By attracting the likes of internationally acclaimed model of the year Kate Upton, who’s appeared on covers of Vogue, Elle, GQ, Cosmopolitan and most recently Vanity Fair, the Emirates’ appeal to international fashion, lifestyle and horse-lovers is undeniable.

Kate’s romance with horses is deep-rooted, proven by her five world equestrian youth division championships from her teen years.

Needless to say, if you don’t have tickets to this year’s festivities, there’s no time like the present.
