Emirates at Derby Day

Emirates has upped-the-ante this year yet again with their Flemington trackside marquee, heralding the airlines expansive network to and from Germany in celebrating the Melbourne spring racing carnival.

Upon entering the marquee’s fairy-tale façade of Germany’s most famous architectural icon – Neuschwanstein Castle, complete with turrets, flags and towers – guests were treated to the modern and fairy-tale fantasy of old and new Germany.

The menu has been inspired by German culture and took guests on a culinary journey of Germany, with a modern twist on the classics such as honey roasted venison, schnitzel & kartoffelsalat, Hamburg panfish and food stations complete with traditional German sausages and warm Bavarian style pretzels. It meant guests could carb-load in place of the horses.

German Slap Dancers entertained guests throughout the day with two Schuhplattlers, while some guests opted for relaxation and bliss, with a hand or foot massage on offer in the Timeless Spa or a make-up touch up at the exclusive Lancôme lip and eye bar.
